Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) is remembering a visit to Chalk River from the late Prince Philip.
The Queen’s husband died peacefully at Windsor Castle this morning — just two months shy of his 100th birthday.
On social media, CNL shared a memory of when Prince Philip visited the Chalk River Laboratories on July 30th of 1954.
CNL says Prince Philip was given a tour of the site by the former company president, W.J. Bennett.
Canadian Nuclear Laboratories says Prince Philip visited the National Research eXperimental (NRX) reactor – which at the time was among the world’s most powerful research reactors – as well as other facilities.
CNL adds this particular tour was designed to highlight Canada’s post-war development of science and natural resources as well as to take in the British Empire Games.
