Jones started with Algonquin College in 2019 and was not even with the school for six-months when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
The Dean of the Pembroke Campus says staff are committed to helping others learn and were able to transition to hybrid learning models.
She says students in the forestry program were some of the first allowed back on campus over a year ago.
Jones adds one upside of the COVID-19 pandemic is the how people were pushed to adapt to new technology and can benefit from remote and in-person learning models.
Algonquin College is also adding new programs for students such as environmental management and assessment, computer programmer and geographic-info system programs.
She adds the college is also working on a $5-million skills advancement program that provides training and upskilling to the forestry sector.
Jones says some of her major accomplishments are when she worked as a part of a team to improve the community.
Jones reflects on time spent volunteering, sitting on committees and her involvement with a rebranding project in Truro, Nova Scotia.
The Dean at Algonquin College encourages others to look beyond the workplace (volunteering, board or committee work) to expand your skill set, get engaged and move into the next leadership role.
