Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MP Cheryl Gallant says restauranteurs have reported being required to deny entry to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel.
Gallant says soldiers do not receive their COVID-19 shots through the provincial system and receive their healthcare directly from the Federal Government.
The local MP says women and men in uniform are not emailed confirmation of their injections the way civilians are.
Gallant says since rules for “Proof of Vaccination” came into effect last week, those who serve our country in uniform are being denied access to places requiring “official” proof of vaccination documentation.
She adds the way those, who put their lives on the line to defend our nation, are treated by the recycled Liberal government is a disgrace.
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is letting business and facilities know that proof of vaccination looks different for military members.
The RCDHU says military members are required to show their CAF-issued vaccination booklet along with their military ID.
The health unit says proof of vaccination for military members can be in the form of an entry in a vaccination booklet, a sheet of paper or a card.
The authenticity of these documents can be confirmed by verifying that the name and service number on the document matches those on the individual’s military identification card.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke encourages everyone concerned about the treatment of people serving in the Canadian Armed Forces to co-sign her letter to the Commander Military Personnel Command and Chief of Military Personnel, Lieutenant-General Steve Whelan at cherylgallant.com/caf-vax.
