An 83-year-old Beachburg resident who is legally blind and diabetic is walking across the Ottawa Valley to raise money for Hospice Renfrew.
Last year, Russell Mackay, known as Papa to many, walked 130-kilometers from Beachburg to Ottawa and raised over $120,000 for CHEO.
His daughter Crystal Mackay says this year they will be doing 5-kilometer walks across Renfrew County, like a rock concert tour, in Ottawa Valley charity style!
She says everyone is invited to come walk with them and encouraged to donate to Hospice Renfrew.
Crystal says the first walk will kick off downtown Beachburg on October 7th between 5:00pm and 6:00pm.
The following day, October 8th, walks will be in Petawawa and Deep River.
On Saturday, October 9th, Papa will be walking in Pembroke, Cobden and Deep River.
Sunday the 10th of October Papa will walk in Arnprior with a wrap up parade in Renfrew.
Russell says last year they were so overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the good people and companies across the Ottawa Valley.
He adds this year they are proud to support Hospice Renfrew and is inviting the community to join in this important cause.
You can donate in person or online at the Hospice Renfrew website. Check the “Papa Walks for Hospice” fund under the allocation tab.
