It was the first ever hybrid inaugural meeting for the County of Renfrew.
Laurentian Valley Reeve Debbie Robinson accepted the chain of office and was sworn in for a third straight term as the Warden of Renfrew County on Tuesday morning (December 14th, 2021).
Warden Robinson says she will continue to push for sustainable funding in 2022 for the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre (VTAC).
The Warden says roughly 23,000 people in Renfrew County are currently without a family physician and adds that means roughly 30-doctors would be required.
She adds VTAC is filling a much needed gap in our area.
Robinson talked about the Algonquin Trail being the pride and joy of the county with 106-kilometers open for year round use.
The Warden for the County of Renfrew also committed to growing the relationship with Indigenous Peoples.
With the 2022 Ontario Winter Games coming to Renfrew County for the first time in a few short months, the Warden added it will be known as the best games ever.
County Councillor Michael Donohue nominated Robinson for the Wardenship of the County of Renfrew with Peter Emon as the seconder.
Virtual greetings and congratulations were presented from Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski, Arnprior Deputy Mayor Chris Toner, Deep River Mayor Suzanne D’Eon, Laurentian Valley Mayor Steve Bennett, Renfrew Mayor Don Eady, Whitewater Region Mayor Michael Moore, Pembroke Mayor Mike LeMay along with Colonel John Vass and Chief Warrant Officer Jack Dunford from Garrison Petawawa.
Robinson says she has the pleasure of working alongside some of the most dedicated and committed politicians here in Renfrew County.
Nominations for Warden closed on November 12, 2021, and no other members of County Council put forth their name as a candidate.
