Chartwell Pembroke is making a difference here in the community.
The second annual Food Drive for the St. Joseph’s Food Bank was a huge success.
Retirement Living Consultant Billy Tippett says the Pembroke Chartwell location raised 676 donations, more than four times what they collected the first year.

Last year, for the first year of the fundraiser, Tippett says just shy of 150 non-perishable food items were collected, so this year they wanted to double that number.

He adds they partnered with Steven & Julie’s No Frills in Pembroke who helped top up the donations up to over 1,000 items.

Tippett adds one of the residents knitted 32 toques and they also donated 192 pairs of knitted mittens and almost $300 in cash to the St. Joseph’s Food Bank.

Tippett adds donations can still be dropped off to the St. Joseph’s Food Bank or at Steven & Julie’s No Frills during regular business hours.
He adds they hope to continue this initiative year after year to support those in need here in the community.
