Two drivers are facing charges of impaired operation after incidents in the Upper Ottawa Valley.
Local police say on December 16th they received a report of a possible impaired driver in WHitewater Region. The OPP located the vehicle on Foresters Falls Road, but the driver failed to stop for police and continued onto Highway 17.
The vehicle was located a short time later in the ditch on Highway 17 near Oattes Road.
Police arrested the female driver at the scene who was not injured.
As a result, 23-year-old Taylor Bahm is facing charges of operation while impaired (by alcohol and drugs), dangerous operation, flight from police, fail to stop for police, operation while prohibited and four counts of failure to comply with probation.
A few days later, on December 19th, the OPP responded to a possible impaired driver on Highway 17 in Laurentian Hills.
Police stopped the vehicle on the highway and used a roadside screening device.
Officers charged 23-year-old Daniel Shuker of Burks Falls with operation while impaired (by alcohol and drugs), driving with cannabis readily available, failure to surrender license/permit for vehicle and not having an insurance card.
Both drivers have upcoming court dates to answer to the charges.
The accused individuals had their licenses suspended for 90 days and their vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days.
