Active cases and hospitalizations have increased in the region with the RCDHU reporting a 12th death from COVID-19.
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) has released the weekly case summary which breaks down the local COVID-19 information.
The detailed case summary put out one week ago (December 23rd, 2021) showed 85 active cases in the region, including five people in the hospital with one of them in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Information released this afternoon (December 30th, 2021), shows 247 active COVID-19 cases in the region. There are currently nine local residents in the hospital including one in the ICU battling COVID-19.
The RCDHU says in the last 7-days there has been a record 216 new cases reported in Renfrew County and District (averaging 30 new infections per day).
Ontario is reporting a record breaking 13,807 new cases and three more deaths linked to the virus. There are 965 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the province including 200 in intensive care units.
Quebec is reporting a record 14,188 new COVID-19 cases today and nine additional deaths. The province has 939 people in the hospital due to COVID-19 including 138 in the ICU.
