The Pembroke Regional Hospital continues to serve as the regional admissions centre for COVID-19 patients in the Upper Ottawa Valley.
PRH President and CEO Pierre Noel says the pandemic has presented a number of challenges from an operational standpoint at the hospital.
He adds 2021 was a continuation of what we saw in 2020 with the pandemic, but with the rollout of vaccines which help prevent serious illness, hospitalization and death.
The hospital President and CEO says they’ve been busy over the last year and expects the early part of 2022 to look similar.
Noel hopes as the year progresses we will make our way through the pandemic.
He adds the hospital has not fallen too far behind with surgeries and diagnostic procedures that were postponed when COVID-19 first hit and have recently made up a lot of ground.
The President and CEO at PRH says they have a great team working to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Noel says in Pembroke, they care for COVID-19 patients who need to be hospitalized or admitted to the intensive care unit, to the point where they need to be on a ventilator, when patients are sent to Ottawa.
With COVID-19 cases on the rise, new visitor restrictions were announced this week at the Pembroke Regional Hospital.
