SnoSpree kicks off today (January 31st, 2022) in the City of Pembroke.
Recreation Programmer Sarah Frederick says they had a plan for only virtual events, but when Ontario announced that some of the COVID-19 restrictions would ease up, staff were able to add some in-person activities.
Audio PlayerAs part of SnoSpree, the City of Pembroke is hosting “Winter’s Biggest Fan Contest” with a fun variety of prizes for the winning fans. The city wants to see your backyard rink, snow sculpture, favourite sliding hill, ice fishing shack or whatever you love to do in the winter months. Pictures of videos can be sent to recreation@pembroke.ca or sent to the City of Pembroke on Facebook.
Audio PlayerFrederick says they also have a “Golden Ticket Snowshoe” event. She says a sticker is hidden on a pair of snowshoes you can rent from the city, and if you find the golden ticket, you win your own pair of snowshoes. Snowshoes can be rented by emailing recreation@pembroke.ca or calling 613-735-6821 ext. 1501.
As part of the 2022 edition of SnoSpree, there’s also a virtual tour of the Champlain Trail Museum, a CD Vinyl Snowflake Coaster crafting event, public skates, swims, chair yoga, virtual trivia, a movie night at Festival Hall, an Ice Water Challenge, outdoor giant lawn games and inflatables with Lumber Kings Hockey Sunday night at the Pembroke Memorial Centre.
Frederick says they will also have a “Date Night at Home” with a charcuterie appetizer from Little Things Canning, homemade pizza kits from Joe’s Pizzeria with a dessert box from 7th Heaven Sweets.
She adds more information on all the activities planned for SnoSpree are available online.
