After 12-years with the Town of Petawawa, Director of Community Services, Kelly Williams has announced his retirement. His last day in the office is Friday, April 8th, 2022.
Williams says some milestone projects include, a new track and field facility with a shared use agreement with the Renfrew County District School Board, building the first splash pad in Petawawa, the Bike Park and renovations at the Civic Centre.
Williams says he is proud of how the Town of Petawawa has kept the ball moving forward and finding money for projects, not always out of the tax base. He says community donations, grants and in-kind work has helped advance services offered.
Williams tells myFM he got into recreation and leisure as a career and adds his father was a recreation director. He says he’s been involved in sports and recreation his entire life and in retirement that won’t change. Williams joked that he might be able to compete in the Upper Ottawa River Race this summer as a participant for the first time instead of an official or volunteer.
Williams credited the strong team around him for the many career accomplishments in his 12-year tenure with the Town of Petawawa. A new Director of Community Services for the Town of Petawawa has not been announced yet.
