The Province of Ontario has announced plans to build eight new long-term care beds and upgrade 46 other beds at Caressant Care Nursing and Retirement Home in Cobden.
Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski delivered the news at a virtual press conference Friday afternoon (April 8th, 2022).
Yakabuski says when construction is complete 54 residents will have a new place to call home.
As part of the announcement, Yakabuski highlighted the fact that 218 new and 370 upgraded long-term care beds are in development, under construction, or completed in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.
Long-term care projects in Renfrew County include:
- 86 new beds at the Four Seasons Lodge in Deep River
- 29 new and 131 upgraded beds at Marianhill in Pembroke
- 36 new and 60 upgraded beds at The Grove in Arnprior
- 6 new and 90 upgraded beds at Valley Manor in Barry’s Bay
Stuart Oakley the Marketing and Communications Manager at Caressant Care Nursing and Retirement Homes says this is the first chapter of a very exciting novel that is going to unfold.
No timeline was released on when the additional beds will be built in Renfrew County.
Yakabuski says it’s a fairly lengthy process and the first step is determining where the beds are going to be built.
