A tight-checking and low-scoring matchup in Brockville last night had game 5 between the Lumber Kings and Braves tied until the final 20 seconds of regulation. Brockville was able to put one past Reece Proulx on the power play to give the Braves a 2-1 lead before sealing the deal with an empty netter and avoiding elimination. Carter Vollett scored his first of the postseason and the only marker for Pembroke. Special teams played a big part in this one as the Braves went 2/3 with the man advantage as Pembroke was held off the score sheet on three tries of their own. The King’s star netminder Reece Proulx made 22 saves in the loss. The Lumber Kings still hold a 3-2 series lead with another chance to put away the Braves in game 6 tonight at the Pembroke Memorial Centre. Gates open at 6 pm with puck drop scheduled for 7 pm.
