It’s voting day in Ontario.
Residents in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke have seven options to choose from in the provincial election.
There are seven candidates running in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke including; Anna Dolan of the Green Party, Oliver Jacob with the Ontario Liberal Party, Ontario Party candidate Kade MacWilliams, New Blue candidate Thomas O’Conner, Kurt Stoll with the NDP, Ontario Provincial Confederation of Regions Party candidate Murray Reid and PC Party of Ontario candidate John Yakabuski.
The returning elections officer for the riding, Lewis MacDonald, says if you have your voters information card, bring it with a piece of government issued ID like a drivers license. He says at tech polls with tabulators, you will be processed within seconds.
MacDonald says the process is a bit longer for those who don’t have their voters information card.
MacDonald says places like Whitney, Madawaska, Combermere, Quadeville, Stonecliffe, Hayley, Round Lake Center and Point Alexander still use paper ballots, adding locations with over 1,000 registered voters are entitled to a tech poll with a tabulator.
Polls are open from 9:00am to 9:00pm today. MacDonald says results will likely be available within an hour of polls closing, but the results of the election won’t be official until the weekend.
