The 2022 provincial election saw Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke re-elect Progressive Conservative John Yakabuski for a sixth consecutive term.
On Thursday, June 2nd, 2022, voters showed a lot of support for the MPP who has represented the riding since 2003. Yakabuski took in over 60 percent of voters support. Following his win, Yakabuski congratulated all other candidates who chose to run.
NDP Candidate Kurt Stoll placed second in the polling with 17 percent support. Stoll expects support for the NDP to continue to grow in Renfrew County.
Liberal Oliver Jacob took in just under ten percent of voter support. Jacob says he was disappointed with the results.
New Blue Candidate Thomas O’Conner had 4.5 percent voter support. O’Conner says he expects to run again in the next election.
Anna Dolan with the Green Party had over three percent of voters. Dolan is hopeful the Conservative government keeps the environment in mind.
The Ontario Party’s Kade MacWilliams had under three percent of voters support during the election. He wanted to thank everyone who put their support in him during the election campaign.
Confederation of Regions Party candidate Murray Reid had less than one percent of voters support. Reid expected Yakabuski was going to win.
Elections Ontario says Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke had a 46.38% voter turn-out with Yakabuski winning by 17,691 votes.
