Fourth dose; second booster- whatever you prefer to call it, the COVID shots are being offered through a combination of private pharmacies and Renfrew County and District Health Unit clinics, but Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Cushman tells myFM/Oldies 107.7 the uptake is lagging.
Cushman says Ontario may review the vaccination age requirements in the very near future.
Our neighbours in Quebec can now get a fourth dose if they are over age 18, while BC’s age restrictions are still the highest in the county.
The doctor says current best advice is to try to put off your fourth dose until Fall, when an Omicron-specific vaccine becomes available.
Cushman, who has himself now recovered from a COVID infection, says debate over the fourth dose is not the biggest worry; it’s those who haven’t had a second or a third shot that are his biggest concern.
Looking to the future, Health Canada has tweeted that it expects to reach a decision by mid-July on whether to approve Moderna’s shot for children between six months and five years old.
