Garrison Petawawa is holding the 39th annual Iron Warrior competition this week.
The event will be held on Friday (August 26th) and Saturday (August 27th).
The event will start with a single round of blank artillery fired near Dundonald Hall around 4:00am on Friday and 7:00am on Saturday.
Competitors will be travelling through the Town of Petawawa and 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group will have traffic control points where competitors will be crossing public roads.
Expect to see increased traffic on the Algonquin Trail and parts of Victoria Street, Albert Street, Festubert Boulevard and the Petawawa Point Beach.
The first day of competition will include a 42km marathon with a 21km sprint on the second day.
Competitors will have to carry around a weighted rucksack.
Garrison Petawawa will also be hosting their Family Day event on Saturday at Dundonald Hall from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
