The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is working closely with County staff at Bonnechere Manor is Renfrew, which is the site of a significant COVID outbreak, according to Acting Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Cushman.
The doctor says the staffing issue is posing a significant challenge during the declared outbreak.
He says management is addressing the crisis by encouraging overtime among staffers not impacted, and the administration is contributing extra hours where possible.
Cushman says the RCDHU catchment area was one of the best nationwide in COVID containment through the early going, but the seventh wave is slipping through the cracks.
The Acting Medical Officer of Health says co-morbidity is a factor among those ages 80-plus, where a higher fraction remain unvaxxed.
