Gary Serviss is running to be the next Mayor for the Town of Petawawa. He is one of two candidates running for Mayor in the October 24th municipal election. Serviss has been a member of council for the last eight years and spent the last four years as Deputy Mayor in Petawawa.
In his eight years on council Serviss launched the Petawawa Sports & Entertainment Hall of Fame, started the veteran banner program (that will begin in 2022) and fundraised to help bring a Syrian refugee family to town.
Serviss also talked about the net zero project at the wastewater treatment plant that will turn waste and feedstock into renewable natural gas. If elected as Mayor, he hopes to continue reducing the carbon footprint of the Town of Petawawa.
Serviss talked about keeping taxes low for local residents while continuing to provide quality services and infrastructure.
Serviss taught at General Panet High School and Valour High School from 1993 to 2019. He remains active in the community as a volunteer with the Petawawa Fundraising Committee, the Rotary Club of Petawawa and a coach with the Coureurs de Bois Running Club and Nordic Ski Club as well as the Valour High School cross-country running, nordic skiing and track and field teams.
Serviss is running against Jody Anne McDonald to be the next Mayor for the Town of Petawawa.
