Calabogie Rustic Farm & Market is one of the host sites for the first Farms Open event in Renfrew County. Owner Mike Graham says they will be doing horse logging demonstrations, chainsaw carving with a number of vendors on site.
Graham adds they will also have live music, a BBQ with burgers hot dogs and smoked brisket.
Graham says they are working on developing a small organic fruit and vegetable farm and have planted a permaculture style orchard.
Graham says in one row they have different species of trees such as apple, plum and pear, with smaller fruits and mixed perennial vegetables in between.
Graham says at Calabogie Rustic Farm & Market they offer all natural and organic products like many of the other farms that are featured in the Renfrew County Farms Open event.
Calabogie Rustic Farm & Market is located at 5258 Murphy Road in Calabogie and features products from vendors around the Ottawa Valley. Graham says they bring in local meats, food and handcrafted products and he encourages everyone to check out the different farm operations this weekend.
The Farms Open event will be held on Sunday, September 18th from 10:00am to 4:00pm. There are nine host sites including Calabogie Rustic Farm & Market, Alder Creek Farm, Mapleside Sugarbush, Forest Cove Alpacas, Shulist Family Farm, Sernoskie’s Tree Farm, Cardaleacres, Ottawa Valley Farm to Fork and Pinnacle Haven Farm.
