Ian Kuehl is running for a seat on Pembroke City Council. Kuehl was born and raised in Pembroke, went to school to get a law degree and came home to practice law. Kuehl is a small business owner (Leach & Kuehl Law Office), vice-chair of the Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre, Vice President of the Renfrew County Law Association and Chair of the Renfrew County Real Estate Bar.
If elected, Kuehl says he plans to hold an emergency council meeting to address the shortage of doctors and healthcare workers.
Kuehl has previously chaired the Pembroke Police Services Board, done legal work with the city and the Town of Deep River. His campaign slogan is “Change That You Can Trust” and adds it’s time for some new ideas.
Kuehl also talked about issues with the tax rate in Pembroke and notes if MPAC assessment rates are rising, the city should be lowering the tax rate so they don’t get a windfall of municipal tax dollars.
Online, Kuehl highlights some other campaign priorities including waterfront development, property freedoms, economic and residential development, roads, public transit and not giving council a pay raise over the four year term of office.
