Renfrew is mourning the loss of a mainstay within its downtown business core.
According to sources close to the family, Ian Scott, longtime owner of Scott’s Shoes, passed away on Tuesday morning after a long battle with illness.
Scott is being remembered for the impact he left on other businesses and people in the community: under his watch, Scott’s Shoes supplied footwear to factories and construction firms across the Ottawa Valley. Scott himself was a frequent supporter of events and charitable causes in the Renfrew Area.
He was also a major and visible part of the community itself. Scott played a big role within the former Valleyfest event in Renfrew and was a popular member of both the Renfrew Curling and Golf Clubs.
Scott’s work ethic was an inspiration for his children to take up businesses within the community.
A visitation will be held at the Zohr Family Funeral Home in Renfrew on Friday, October 21st from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, followed by a celebration of life at the Renfrew Curling Club on Saturday, October 22nd from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
