There’s a fundraiser event for Paige Atherton of Beachburg.
Kirk Stewart says his niece Paige was diagnosed with appendix cancer, went through several rounds of chemotherapy and has to go to the United States to get treatment.
Alicia Stewart says they created Paige’s Amber Army to help raise money for the family for medical expenses that aren’t covered.
The fundraiser event will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, at the Shady Nook Rec Centre in Laurentian Valley from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Tickets are $5 each at the door and children under 10 get in for free.
Draws will be held on December 3rd and the 22nd of December and some of the prizes include an autographed t-shirt from Gord Downie, a signed Tragically Hip picture, an autograph package from Sum 41, golf packages, weekend getaways, and a number of gift certificates and local business packages.
50/50 tickets are $2 for one, $5, for three, or $10 for nine.
You don’t need to attend the event to win the prizes as winners will be called if their ticket is drawn.
A cash donation bin has also been set up at Bruham Food Mart in Pembroke.
Kirk says they have also decided to hold a silent auction at the event. The items available include a painting by a local artist, two necklaces with dancing diamond setting from Omni Jewelers, a necklace and earrings set, weekend getaway (Air B&B), baskets from Brimstone & Belladonna, Damascus chefs knife from Whitewater Forge, a functional and decorative fire pit ring from Frontier Welding, items from Pick It Fence and a gift card package which has gift cards for many restaurants in the area.
