Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) has unveiled six new signs around the Ottawa Valley to let drivers know to watch out for turtles.
Communications Officer Alexandra (Ally) Senuik says the 2022 Community Turtle Crossing sign contest had roughly 45 submissions and over 1,000 votes were received.
Senuik says six winners were selected to have their artwork displayed on local roads.
Each location has two newly installed signs and they can be found on Barron Canyon Road, Black Bay Road and Banting Drive.
The team at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories says these locations were identified by the Environmental Protection department as being crossing hot spots for turtles.
CNL says the initiative is to help protect turtles as road mortality is one of the major causes of endangerment for the species.
