Colonel Jason Guiney has taken over as the Commander of the 4th Canadian Division Support Group (4 CDSG) at Garrison Petawawa. Last month (December 9th, 2022), it was announced that Garrison Commander John Vass was being promoted to Brigadier-General. On Friday (January 13th, 2023), Brigadier-General Vass transferred command of 4 CDSG to Colonel Guiney who says it’s an honour and privilege.

Audio PlayerGuiney joined the Canadian Armed Forces as an infantry officer in 1995 and this will be his third posting in Petawawa. Guiney deployed with 3 RCR to Afghanistan in 2007 and in 2014 Guiney assumed command of 1 RCR and with his battalion established the Canadian Armed Forces training mission in Ukraine.
Audio PlayerThe new Commander of 4 CDSG has also deployed to missions in the Middle-East and Africa. Guiney will join other soldiers who make the commute from Arnprior to Petawawa.
