Home owners along Isabella and Victoria Streets in Pembroke are raising concerns with city council about the Grind. The group attended council chambers on Tuesday and said they have a real concern for health and safety. Krista Zingel says they are not against the agency, residents just want better oversight. She tells myFM that there have also been recent cases where pets have been in danger.
Audio PlayerZingel says the clients who use the Grind have been linked to litter and drug paraphernalia in the area, in addition to a lack of respect for any “Good Neighbour Policy”. Home owners are suffering from a loss of sleep due to fighting, arguing and loud talking at all hours of the day and night.
Audio PlayerZingel tells myFM that it’s time for governments to step up and control the situation.
Audio PlayerCouncil agreed to look into the issues and consult with the organization to find a solution. Zingel does mention, however, that she and the rest of area residents are not against what the Grind offers, they just want it to be better operated.
