The Ottawa Valley Tourist Association (OVTA) is in favour of keeping the Ontario Staycation tax credit.
The staycation tax credit allowed Ontario residents to claim up to $1,000 for individuals or $2,000 for families for eligible accommodation expenses when filling 2022 tax returns.
In a report presented to the County of Renfrew Development and Property Committee meeting on (Jan. 9th, 2023), Melissa Marquardt, Manager of Economic Development, told members the OVTA is writing a letter to Ontario’s Finance Minister supporting the extension of the program.
Marquardt says the OVTA supports the extension of the tax credit in an effort to encourage domestic travel within Ontario.
