A local snowmobile club is ringing in it’s 40 anniversary with the grand re-opening of the Madawaska Bridge.
Opeongo Snowbirds President Lynn Northey says they’ll be at the west side of the bridge this Friday, January 27th at 1:00pm to cut the ribbon, after a grant from the Ministry of Transportation let them re-deck the bridge and rebuild the approaches.
The club, which was founded in 1983, is responsible for maintaining 170 kilometers of trails that connect the communities of Wilno, Barry’s Bay, Madawaska and Whitney. Northey says the Madawaska Bridge is an important tourist draw which keeps the community vibrant year round.
Then on Saturday, January 28th from 11:00am to 4:00pm, Northey says to drop by the side of the OSFC Top B Trail for a barbeque put on by the Spectacle Lake Lodge.
You can enjoy burgers, sausages, hot dogs, and chili with the Club, as well pick up their 40th Anniversary merchandise.
Part of the proceeds from the barbeque will go to the Opeongo Snowbirds Snowmobile Club. Find out more on their facebook page.
