After many months of research and planning, the Upper Ottawa Valley Parish Nurse Initiative Health Council has hired their parish nurse. Rev. Tiina Cote – Minister at Calvin United Church tells myFM they couldn’t be more thrilled.
The Minister at Calvin United Church says that over the last 18 months, the Upper Ottawa Valley Parish Nurse Initiative Health Council has been researching and interviewing for the position. She says that Melissa Jardine-Ridley fits the job perfectly.
The new nurse also comes with a wealth of experience.
The Health Council’s goal is to expand this parish nurse healthcare ministry to include more UCC churches, ecumenical and interfaith partners, funding partners, and community agencies in the Upper Ottawa Valley that share the fundamental values of equity, inclusion, and diversity. The initiative will use a rotational “hub model” in which the Parish Nurse will provide personal care to the member churches weekly, rotating days of service each week. She will also provide health education to the public through local health agency partnerships.
