The family of Beachburg resident Paige Atherton has blown away the community’s support.
Kirk and Alicia Stewart started the Paige’s Amber Army fundraiser in support of their niece Paige and her family as she has required complicated surgery and chemotherapy treatments for her rare form of appendix cancer which has put them under financial strain.
Since their start at the back end of last year, the pair say donations from their niece’s GoFundMe page and Paige’s Amber Army has combined for over $130,000 dollars to help the Atherton family.
The operation was too complicated for surgeons in Toronto to handle, so Paige recently made the trip south of the border and went in to the operating room for surgery early on Thursday morning in Pittsburgh.
Alicia adds that you can send get well cards to Paige as she recovers in hospital.
A 50/50 draw and Paige’s Amber Army T-shirts are on sale as donations will continue to support the Atherton family with treatment for Paige’s cancer and day-to-day family expenses.
Find out how to take part on the Paige’s Amber Army facebook page.
