Nelson Street after construction with new sidewalk installed
Phase two of the Nelson Street reconstruction project in Pembroke will be getting underway soon. The section of road between Mackay Street and William Street has been awarded to Bonnechere Excavating Inc for a little over $3.8 million. The job comes in over $313,500 over budget, however the operations committee plan to cover the cost by reallocated funds from the Highway 148 Sanitary Sewer project. MTO has informed Operations that due to complications, as well as ongoing property acquisition hurdles, the project has been delayed with construction expected in the spring of 2024. The City will budget for the required Sanitary sewer works in the new year.
