Phase four of the Pembroke Street West construction project is a go this summer. Pembroke’s operations committee has approved the tender for the section between Miramichi Lodge to Christie Street. H&H Construction has been awarded the job for roughly $1.6 million. This is the final phase of the multi-year project, partially funded by the Federal and Provincial Governments under the ICIP Northern and Rural Stream. Construction also includes upgrades and replacements to traffic signals and sidewalks.

Project costs as tendered for the Reconstruction of Pembroke Street West Phase 4, including design, contract administration, construction, additional expenditures and net HST total $1,765,598.06. This represents a budget shortfall of $715,598.06 however, Phase 3 of the Pembroke Street West project was completed in 2022 with reductions in some estimated quantities and using only a small portion of the allotted contingency allowance. This amount, along with some carry forward from previous phases equals $198,787, representing a revised budget shortfall of $516,811.06 which can be funded using remaining 2024 OCIF Funding which presently has a balance of $946,000.
