Carefor Heath and Community Services received the Western Financial Community Infrastructure Grant to help them finish up their new accessible bathroom at Carefor Mackay Centre.
Carefor is a local not-for-profit charity that provides home healthcare and community support services to seniors and disabled adults and operates two affordable retirement homes in Pembroke Renfrew County. Whether in the home, in the community. With this grant, the nearly eighty residents won’t need to go from one room into another to take care of their personal needs. The old tubs used to be too low, making it a challenge to use them without incident.
Along with the Western Financial Community Infrastructure Grant, these upgrades were made possible with the added financial help of Social Development Canada Accessibility Grant and donations from the generous members of the community as well.
Community support, including the Western Financial Community Infrastructure Grant, will go to Carefor’s “Everyone Deserves a Place to Call Home” Campaign which raises money to provide much needed safety upgrades, recreational programming and essential renovations for Carefor two retirement homes. These homes offer care and community to some of the Ottawa Valley’s most vulnerable seniors.
