A $59 million expansion is coming to Marianhill long-term care home in Pembroke. The announcement was made Tuesday morning onsite, along with facility executives, MPP John Yakabuski and the Minster of Long-Term Care for Ontario, Paul Calandra. The project will add 29 additional beds to Marianhill. The Minister tells us that the staff at Marianhill were one of the first to jump on board for the provinces new funding model.
Work on the expansion will begin this summer and is expected to be completed in three years. The Minister also tells us that this project falls in line with the provincial governments plan to upgrade long-term care.
During the pandemic, Calandra says it became clear that keeping seniors in their community was a focal point for the government when they looked at upgrading long-term care.
MPP for Renfrew-Nippissing-Pembroke John Yakabuski also couldn’t be happier with the announcement.
The Marianhill expansion is one of 70 similar projects happening in Ontario before August 31st of this year, adding 11,000 new beds.
