The OPP is investigating a serious three-vehicle crash on Highway 17 in Laurentian Hills Township. The incident occurred on September 8, 2023, around 9:30 p.m. between Rons Lane and Duck Point Trail. An eastbound passenger vehicle collided with a westbound pickup truck, leading to a third vehicle’s involvement after being hit by debris. Fortunately, the occupants of the third vehicle were unharmed.
One occupant of the pickup truck sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an Ottawa-area hospital. The eastbound vehicle’s driver and two passengers had minor injuries and were treated at the scene. The driver of the eastbound vehicle was tested, resulting in charges against 30-year-old Akshay Deep SINGH of Etobicoke for impaired operation and causing bodily harm.
The accused will appear in court on October 17, 2023, with a suspended driver’s license and impounded vehicle. A section of Highway 17 was closed for approximately four hours due to the collision. The investigation continues, with police seeking information about the pickup truck driver.
