The Ottawa Valley Cycling and Active Transportation Alliance (OVCATA) and Mississippi Mills Bicycle Movement (MMBM) presented a workshop on developing Cycle Tourism in the region at the Nick Smith Centre Wednesday.
Eganville resident Bob Petlzer says there were 43 registered participants singing from the same song book.
Peltzer believes we’re on the cusp of untapped opportunity.
The OVCATA spokesperson says we should not sell ourselves short.
Peltzer says the nuts and bolts are known, now it’s time for the nitty gritty.
One of the participants was Rachel Heleniuk; she’s the new Tourism Coordinator for Carleton Place.
While linking the OVRT with the Algonquin Trail was the principal possibility discussed at Wednesday’s workshop to promote Cycle Tourism, Heleniuk believes her community has a big city right next door.
Bob Peltzer says there are some intitial obvious first steps, like erecting signage and public washrooms and getting the word out to local business on the untapped potential of Cycle Tourism.
