The Pembroke Lumber Kings continue to roll. The Pembroke squad has turned things around after dropping the first three games of the regular season and only scoring three goals in the span. The Kings were back on home ice last night against the Kemptville 73’s and gave up an early goal, just seven seconds into the first. Pembroke was able to battle back with goals from Ryan Parent and Andrew Schmidt, each getting their third goals of the season, to take a 2-1 lead heading into the second. The 73’s responded at 10:59 of the second period to knot the game at 2. The two teams would then exchange goals again later in the period, with Pembroke forward Charlie Blewett netting his first of the season and having the game tied at three heading into the third. Andrew Schmidt would tally again for the Kings but Kemptville would eventually tie the game again at 17:42. A 5-minute 3-3 solved nothing and the game would go to a shootout where it was Schmidt once again scoring for Pembroke in the seventh round to seal the win. Goaltender Kevin Jones was solid between the pipes in just his second start in a Lumber King uniform, making 36 saves in the win. Pembroke is back on the road this Friday night when they visit the Rockland Nationals. Game time is 7:30.
