The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP is promoting the CAMSafe program; a community CCTV and security video registry. This program, initially established by the Belleville Police Service in June 2021, has expanded into various communities, including the City of Pembroke and Town of Petawawa in May 2022.
Residents of Pembroke and Petawawa are encouraged to join CAMSafe by registering their video cameras and doorbell cams at CAMSafe.ca. Participation is voluntary and requires basic personal information, and this information is accessible only to the police. CAMSafe acts as a directory for law enforcement to identify potential video footage sources during investigations, offering an initial point for officers to request footage from registered camera owners.
The UOV OPP aims to engage residents and businesses in Pembroke and Petawawa in this program to collectively enhance community safety and reduce crime. For further details about CAMSafe, please visit CAMSafe.ca.
