He has his supporters- and his detractors, and a good lawyer.
You’ll remember Josh Alexander, a student at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Renfrew who made headlines in 2022 for putting together a rally opposing the school’s policy of allowing transgender students use of a washroom.
Alexander’s current fight is with Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB) officials, who say they will allow him to attend class… just not with other students.
The Eganville Leader reports that hasn’t sat well with Josh, or his legal counsel, James Kitchen.
There’s an appeal of the RCCDSB’s decision to segregate him from the student body and allow him to finish his education in the alternative classroom off the main campus, (until the end of the current school year).
Hearings will be held at the main board office on November 15th and 17th, and Josh will be there following a victory at Superior Court that recognized his right to speak for himself.
The acrimony felt by Josh toward the RCCDSB’s stance appears to have continued unabated in the interim, with Alexander posting what some consider inflammatory videos and potentially demeaning comments directed against school administration.
