A number of Ottawa Valley restaurants are offering up pre-paid meals for those who are in need of a meal. Pembroke’s Nelson Street Pub started the intiative and it has since grown to Harvey’s Swiss Chalet in Petawawa and the Rocky Mountain House in Arnprior and Renfrew. Owner of the Nelson Street Pub Corey Moorehead tells myFM news that the process is as easy as possible.
The receipts can be claimed no questions asked. Moorehead also tells myFM news that the program has been so successful that they plan to keep it in place year-round.
The pay-it-forward trend comes at a time when food banks in the Ottawa Valley are seeing significant uptake. The restaurant owner goes on to say that if you can’t make it in to prepay for a meal, visit their website.
