The Church of Faith, Praise and Prayer went on a mission’s trip to Northern Quebec.
On December 10th, 2023, Pastor Gary Langerud and Pastor Daniel Bennett came home from Nunavik, Quebec and shared with the church about their recent trip. The team travelled to four different villages on the Ungava Bay side of Nunavik, Kuujjuaq, Salluit, Quaqtaq and Kangirsuk.
The main goal for the mission trip was to reach out to the men in those communities, they wanted to get to know the Inuit people and encourage them through visitation and to share information about Jesus Christ. Both Pastors loved to hunt and fish which proved to be beneficial in gaining trust and building relationships with the men; they would begin each meeting by asking the men to share some of their hunting stories. They held men’s meetings in each town, either in a municipal office or community Centre.
They were welcomed with open arms by the Inuit communities, they were brought into many homes where they had meals, prayed with the people and helped them get insight into the situations that the community was facing. The residents of the area shared their Inuit culture by means of food, customs, hunting and language.
Morgan Wilson the Church’s Media Team Rep said “The Church of Faith, Praise and Prayer would like to acknowledge that this is sacred land to the Inuit people. We as a church would like to extend the greatest thank you to these communities and their elders.”
