Competitive anglers in the Ottawa Valley will miss out on a popular local stop for the second straight year.
The Cobden Civitan Club is “very disappointed” to cancel their Muskrat Lake ice fishing derby as mild temperatures in the forecast will not allow for the ice on the lake to get thick enough to safely handle the over 1,000 people expected to attend.
Instead, all tickets purchased will be entered into nine cash prize draws, with three $100, $250, and $500 prizes available, totaling $2,550.00.
After the cash prizes are drawn, all the tickets, including the winners of the cash prizes, will be put in for the 19 draw prizes, headlined by a 14-foot Princecraft Fisherman boat with an 8-HP motor.
Tickets for the derby prizes and the 50/50 draw are still available online and through participating ticket centres until February 1st, and again on February 3rd ahead of the prize draws inside the Cobden’s Royal Canadian Legion.
Proceeds from this event will go to Renfrew Hospice, ConnectWell Community Health, the Robbie Dean Counselling Centre, and Victim Services Renfrew County.
