Eganville and District Senior Citizens Needs Association is celebrating a substantial grant of $799,896 over the next two years from the Government of Canada’s Age Well at Home Initiative. The funding aims to enhance support services for seniors in their own homes.
The initiative focuses on empowering seniors to age in place, providing resources for a secure home environment. Particularly relevant for seniors in rural areas, this collaborative effort involves Eganville and District Seniors, Whitewater Seniors, Barry’s Bay Area Home Support, and the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan. Together, they plan to expand volunteer-driven programs for rural seniors, including Meals on Wheels, Transportation, Home Maintenance, Frozen Meals, Home Support, and Friendly Phone Assurance.
The funding presents an opportunity to scale essential services, reaching a broader senior demographic. The collaborative project aims to strengthen support networks and services for seniors in Renfrew County, addressing the unique challenges faced in rural areas.
Seniors seeking to age gracefully at home can anticipate significant benefits from this initiative. For more information or to volunteer, contact Eganville and District Seniors at 613-628-2354 or via email at info@eganvilleseniors.com. The community looks forward to the positive impact of this transformative collaboration.
