UPDATE: At 1:36 p.m Feb. 27., East Region OPP posted on X that the highway had reopened.
A portion of Highway 17 near Chalk River is closed today (Feb. 27) following a multi-vehicle crash.
Police say only minor injuries are being reported from the incident.
Upper Ottawa Valley OPP posted on X that Highway 17 is closed between Fields Road and Plant Road.
Detours are in place for passenger vehicles, however, tractor trailers are unable to use the detour because of the road condition, say police.
The highway is expected to be closed for a couple of hours for cleanup.
