It was a big day for the Ottawa Valley and CNL in Chalk River as the Honorable Todd Smith, Ontario’s Minister of Energy paid a visit to the facility Wednesday. Smith took the time to meet with staff in the cafeteria before visiting the construction site of the new Advanced Nuclear Material Research Centre that will be ready come 2028. Smith tells myFM news that CNL part of the glue that keeps Ontario’s energy sector together.
Renfrew-Nippissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski was also on hand and says he was able to help host the minister in his first trip to the Ottawa Valley and highlight the history of the Chalk River site.
Smith tells myFM news that CNL plays a massive part in the energy sector of Ontario, and he couldn’t be more thrilled to be here.
Smith went on to say that around the globe, countries are looking at Canada’s advancement in clean energy and CNL is leading the way with small modular reactor development and research.
