
A missing Chihuahua has been reunited with its owner, but three individuals now face drug-related charges in the aftermath of a police incident in Pembroke.
On March 5, 2024, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP, along with the Canine Unit, responded to a report of unwanted persons at a west-end residence. The operation resulted in the recovery of the missing Chihuahua and the seizure of over 90 grams of suspected cocaine.
Amanda MEILLEUR, 30, of no fixed address, and Corey POPKIE, 36, of Pembroke, are charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. MEILLEUR faces an additional charge for failing to comply with a probation order.
Quinton RACINE, 25, of Pembroke, faces charges for possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with a charge for failure to attend court.
RACINE and POPKIE were held for a bail hearing scheduled for March 6, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. MEILLEUR was released, with a court date set for April 30, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
The charges have not been proven in court.
Items associated with drug trafficking, such as cash, cell phones, and digital scales, were also found during the operation. The OPP remains committed to ensuring the safety of the community and addressing illegal activities.
