The Vimy Foundation has unveiled the names of the 20 young recipients chosen to participate in the esteemed 2024 Vimy Pilgrimage Award. This distinctive program offers Canadian youth aged 14 to 17 an immersive journey to explore historic sites and join the annual Vimy Pilgrimage, where Canadians converge in France to honor the fallen at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial.
Among the chosen participants is Austin Kozlowski, a high school student from Pembroke, Ontario.
Alongside 19 peers from various regions of Canada, Austin will embark on a meaningful journey across France and Belgium from April 3 to April 10. The 8-day itinerary is packed with visits to pivotal sites, museums, cemeteries, and historic battlefields from the First World War. Through this experience, students will delve into history, gaining profound insights into its enduring repercussions.
The program aims to equip participants with valuable transferable skills and a deeper understanding of past events, fostering connections among them as future leaders.
The Vimy Foundation extends heartfelt gratitude to the Jon and Nancy Love Fund at the Toronto Foundation, alongside other major donors, for their generous support in making this educational venture possible.
