In a significant development regarding a string of fraud and theft incidents in Madawaska Valley Township, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated an investigation in November 2022. Led by the Renfrew County Crime Unit, this investigation has resulted in the arrest of an individual and the laying of criminal charges.
On March 26, 2024, the OPP announced the arrest of Amanda Foy, 43, of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Township, in connection with these incidents. Foy now faces multiple charges under the Criminal Code, including theft over $5000, theft under $5000, fraud under $5000, possession of proceeds of crime, laundering proceeds of crime, and forgery. She is set to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 1, 2024.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities actively pursuing leads and gathering evidence. The Killaloe OPP Detachment urges anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
