The Ontario government is extending the Investing in Women’s Futures program to 10 new locations across the province, including the Community Resource Centre Inc. in Killaloe. This expansion aims to assist more women facing social and economic challenges by providing them with the necessary support and training to achieve financial security and independence.
John Yakabuski, MPP for Renfrew–Nipissing–Pembroke, stated that the program will enable women in Killaloe to access employment readiness training and other support services, allowing them to pursue well-paying jobs or further education. The expansion is part of a $6.9 million investment over three years to grow the program and create more economic opportunities for women.
With the addition of 10 new locations, the Investing in Women’s Futures program now operates in 33 sites across Ontario, offering services such as employment readiness training, supportive counseling, and help with navigating financial and legal systems. The Community Resource Centre Inc. in Killaloe will receive $325,000 over three years to deliver the program.
The organization offers virtual and in-person programs to support rural women, 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals, and survivors of gender-based violence. These services help women rebuild their lives and achieve financial security through skill-building workshops and counseling.
Charmaine Williams, Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity, emphasized that the expansion provides women with access to a safe space and the resources they need to succeed in the workforce, benefiting Ontario as a whole.
The $6.9 million investment builds on previous funding of $18 million from 2022-2025 to support the Investing in Women’s Futures and Women’s Economic Security programs.
