To conclude National Volunteer Month, Pembroke Regional Hospital hosted an appreciation dinner at Pembroke’s Clarion Hotel on April 30 for over half of its nearly 200 volunteers.
PRH volunteers contribute across various roles, including supporting the Auxiliary, working in the Mural Café, Nevada ticket sales, and running the Sunshine Gift Shop. Others offer pet therapy, friendly visiting, wayfinding, and other services that improve the patient experience.
Volunteers also support the PRH Foundation’s fundraising activities and the hospital’s Spiritual Care program. PRH President and CEO Sabine Mersmann acknowledged the vital work of volunteers, emphasizing their crucial behind-the-scenes contributions.
The dinner celebration honored 16 volunteers for reaching service milestones of five to 25 years. Special awards were given to Auxiliary member Geraldine Levesque and outgoing Auxiliary Treasurer Helene Giroux for their exceptional dedication.
